Before participating in the Bridges Getting Ahead program my life was just a mess. I was living in a shelter, working an awful job and very frustrated. Bridges changed everything for me. It helped me learn who I am and what my life could be. I now live on my own with my daughter and have a job I love. My life was changed forever. And my life coach has become my closest friend.

When I was asked to consider mentoring one of the graduates from the Bridges program my first thoughts were “no, I’ve never done anything like that.” But after prayerfully considering it, I decided to take the first step and at least meet Heather. After talking to her for only a few minutes, I realized we were on the same journey, just in different places and there was a lot for us to share and remember. We began meeting weekly and the trust and respect grew and grew. I found that mentoring is a two-way street. And I always receive more than I give. She says the same thing. By saying yes to mentoring, I met a friend I’ll have for life. So did she.

When I first started in the Bridges program I didn't really know what to expect. But at the time I had just got out of jail, was living at the shelter and didn't have a job. I am a recovering addict and so all of my family relationships were just not there. As each week went by I began to realize that what I was learning could really help me recover my life and all that I had lost. Over time with what I learned in the Bridges sessions and Jesus Christ's help I have rebuilt my life. I live in my own home, have a full time job and best of all reestablished my family relationships. I am so thankful for having the chance to go through this program.
