Bridges Out of Poverty is a nationally recognized program transforming and revitalizing communities across the country.
In Rome, the initiative began in April 2019 when more than
100 people attended a workshop sponsored by First Baptist Church and St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. The training introduced the idea that every individual needs access to 11 key resources to succeed.
Poverty is more than a lack of income—it affects health, self-esteem, employability, and the ability to become self-sufficient. By providing access to healthcare, education, and other vital resources, communities can help families break the cycle of poverty.
When these resources are in place, individuals thrive, children do better in school, employers gain a stronger workforce, and the community as a whole prospers.
This success depends on a shared commitment from businesses, local government, educators, healthcare providers, law enforcement, churches, and nonprofits. It all starts with training and equipping community leaders to put the Bridges philosophy into action.
